Compression Therapy

What vascular services do we provide?

We provide several types of vascular services, some of them are orthopedic devices designed to protect limbs from further damage. Others such as pneumatic compression pumps which aid in the management of lymphedema, venus insufficiency, venus stasis ulcerations.

How do I know what type of vascular treatment is right for me?

Your physician and our Lymphedema specialist/practitioner will evaluate your needs and provide a treatment plan that is right for you. There are many types of devices designed to treat a myriad of vascular deficiencies, the specialist will help determine what is right for you.

What should I expect during my appointment?

During your appointment the Lymphedema specialist/practitioner will do an initial evaluation of your needs. Often this will involve doing an anatomical evaluation. The lymphedema specialist will also need your full medical history in order to provide you with the proper care. Often we provide home/hospital visits for our vascular patients with mobility issues. Traditionally compression pumps are delivered and installed by our Lymphedema specialist in your home. The Lymphedema specialist will spend time with you in your home determining where to place the unit and what pressure to set the unit at. This is all based on your medical history.

Will I get a custom device or a prefabricated device?

Depending on the device that is deemed appropriate by the practitioner determines the next step. This may involve taking a custom mold of the anatomy involved. Custom devices aren’t always necessary, sometimes pre fabricated devices are most appropriate. In this case a few simple measurements are taken and the device is fit to the patient. Its always a good idea to wear loose clothing or even bring a pair of shorts for your appointment, this will allow the practitioner to measure or cast you. Often we provide home/hospital visits for our vascular patients.
